Delivering Equitable Healthcare to the Region

We celebrate human diversity – gender, race, age, faith, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status – and the experiences and viewpoints that make us unique. All our neighbors in the community deserve to receive the healthcare they need—specific to their situation. For individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ+), and for our aging population, finding quality healthcare and caring providers can feel like an impossibility. Two primary care physicians who joined us in 2021 are breaking down those barriers and providing care and comprehensive services to LGBTQ+ and geriatric individuals, with a practice open to all patients. Christian E. Gausvik, MD, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and Julia Bedard-Thomas, MD, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, and Geriatrics are practitioners who are fellowship trained in geriatric medicine. Both identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community and, along with The Christ Hospital, are passionate about providing equitable healthcare services to all individuals in an environment where they are respected for their authentic selves.
